We chose to visit Matera to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived at the “sassi” on Monday afternoon. It was raining. After a short walk in the rain, due to the difficulties related to the wet pavement, we decide to return to the b & b that hosted us and visit the stones of Matera the following day. I had already been there in the past, but for my husband it was the first time. His desire was to take a guided tour, while for me it would not have been necessary since I had already visited them and I thought that the landscape view alone would have satisfied us. At my husband’s insistence, we call the agency which tells us that the duration of the guided tour would be approximately two hours. I was somewhat skeptical of this information because listening to a guide, for two hours, could seem a bit boring and then, I wondered, what could be said for so long about the stones? Finally, we accept the support of a tour guide by confirming the agency that sets the appointment for us to start the guided tour. We know Simone !! Highly competent professional in his field, very well prepared under the historical, geological, anthropological and contemporary aspects of Matera. To this is added his empathic ability with us visitors, that is, able to grasp and welcome our curiosities, questions, perplexities and observations.Simone was able to make us go back in time, making us relive the history of the stones, from the dawn to the present time, passing from one era to another, analyzing the life of the people who went from the caves to live in the stones, all told through very engaging passages and nuances, letting us penetrate the life of the Matera people. The two hours of visit were very uplifting and interesting. At the end of our journey Simone gave us some suggestions so that our visit to the stones would not remain incomplete. And we took his advice. Although the visit to Matera lasted only one day, we returned home fully satisfied and uplifted, happy to have celebrated our wedding anniversary in this city. Yes, because, although the landscape is wonderful, just going around without a valid guide would have remained sterile. Obviously we do not reveal what Simone’s advice was, so that you who are reading this review and who have decided to visit the city of stones, can ask for a guided tour with Simone, to whom our most sincere thanks go.Angela & Mauroleggi di più

Due to the FAL strike, the time to visit Matera was very short so we relied on this guided tour group and I must say that Annalisa was an exhaustive guide. Money well spent. Too bad that the entrance to the tank is not included in the tour, even with an increase in the price, unfortunately I will never be able to see it again.I recommend it.leggi di più

First experience of a guided tour in Matera together with the good and prepared Annalisa who spent over two hours illustrating the curiosities, stories and beauties of Matera. Excellent experience, efficient in the presentation of the guided tour that immediately convinced us of the validity. Meeting at the fountain of the three heads in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, they provided us with headphones to follow the words of the guide. And here comes the strong point: Simone, with enthusiasm and passion for his work, made us relive history and discover a world completely unknown to us and unique in its kind !!!! Great Simone, you were perfect !!! !leggi di più
